p much a blog loser @ this point

so yeah i've been gone, I was doing nothing special in particular. just at my full time job tryna impress ppl 24/7. but now I'm just gonna sit back and write shit until my eyes and hands bleed a la meme temps.

so here's a couple music thangs tht i'm psyched for:

Hop Along's sophomore album which is officially up for grabs on May 4th, but you can pre-order this masterpiece (10/10 recc.). After listening to the two singles they released "Waitress" and "Powerful Man" I am definitely going to be purchasing this album in full. I'm embarassed to admit that I listened to their previous album "Get Disowned" (which came out in 2012) I didn't know they were "Hop Along." Their music had been fluctuating around my tumblr, and when my fave reblogged them I had to listen. THEIR SOUND IS SO MUCH DIFFERENT. The first album feels more folky, and quiet-singersongwriter esque, even though their lyrics still hold the same power, but so far on the second album it seems like lead vocalist Frances Quinian, has exploded out of her shell. If you are into killer guitar, and powerful lyrics and vocals, please check them out here

So this album "Shit in the Apple Pie" is technically DIY Band's Pupppy's first album. Currently three songs are up for free streaming via bandcamp, "Beans" "Or Maybe We're Not" "Puking (Merry Christmas)." They have played multiple venues before with other songs (not released??) but they are picking up momentum as the obviously important part of being students from SUNY Purchase, literally the best musicians come out of SUNY's crotch. So far this album, feels like getting to know the band, their sound isn't all the same, some tracks feel slower and softer, while other's pack the punch with crazy guitar chords, but they use piano as well so I immediately give them two thumbs up, because their sound isn't predictable in a bad way. It reminds me of being in the middle of summer, like late July, it feels like anything is possible towards the beginning of the month, and towards the credits you feel like you've just lived 10 years in fast foward and everything is nostalgic. If you like soft explosives please listen to this album here.

So far I've heard only great things about Fraternal Twin, made up of the amazing Tom Christie from Quarterbacks, who impressively composed this album mostly on his own, with the help of friends from Long Beard and Porches. This album holds a lot of promise from two of the songs already released, "Boil" (done as a split with Leslie Bear of Long Beard) and their single holding the same title of the album "Skin Gets Hot." So far I'm really enjoying the strong lofi sounds of these songs, and the lyrics and guitar kind of compliment it in a way that can't really be compared, it's a familiar sound, but also has it's quirks, and I can say that the locals have caught me off guard in a good way, so I keep trying to replay the songs over and over and over. I think anyone who enjoys, a bit of bedroom DIY artists with a lo-fi feel, who could maybe be compared to Alex G and PORCHES. just a little bit. I think everyone should give this a listen go get it here (out May 5th).

there will be more from this half ass blogger soon,
casey
